Taliban are urged to allow girl’s education

A month has passed since girls have been barred from attending secondary schools throughout almost the whole of Afghanistan. This makes the country the only place on Earth, where women are not allowed to get an education. Women have also been banned from returning to work, except those, who work in the public health sector.

Taliban officials have stated that they are going to let girls go back to school, when they have made a “proper” educational program. There haven’t been any clear statements as to when will that take place. As to women going back to work – officials of the Taliban government have stated that women are going to get certain jobs soon, although they will only be able to work in fields “where they are needed”.

Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani activist for female education and Noble Peace Prize laureate, has urged the Taliban to lift their ban on girls’ education. She is concerned that the “temporary” ban is going to last for years.
