199 people have fallen victim to COVID-19 in Bulgaria in the last 24 hours

During the past 24 hours, there have been fewer cases of new infection than usual. In addition to that, the number of people who have recovered is larger than the number of newly infected patients for the first time in two months.

The situation in Bulgaria is still grim, despite the higher interest in getting vaccinated. The new measures are going to take a handful of weeks to have any sort of an effect, and cases are going to continue to rise, due to people not following the measures, and attending anti-vaccine protests. Currently, there are more than 100 000 active cases in the country, while there have been 600 000 total confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic. In total, there have been around 2 900 000 vaccines administered. The situation here is grim and highly underestimated by the populace.

Out of 39 231 PCR tests conducted, 3 853 have been positive, which adds up to around 9.8% of the tested.

Currently hospitalized are a total of 8 398 people.

760 patients have been admitted to intensive care, while 199 have succumbed to the illness.

4 535 people have recovered.

17 375 doses of the COVID-19 vaccines have been administered.
